Amen Events and Happenings NOTICE: During this very active phase of construction, please use the Fire Escape door during the week to access the church offices—follow the signs. In addition, we ask that an adult accompany any children through the Hawkins Room to keep them safe. We want to minimize the number of people going through the room for safety reasons. Coffee Hour will be held over at 21 N. Market St. to maintain safety on Sunday mornings. After the service, go out the front of the church and head over to the building next door. Choir rehearsals for Palm Sunday begin on Sunday, March 23rd, at 3pm. Rehearsals will be held every Sunday at 3pm up to Palm Sunday at which time rehearsal will be at 4pm. Rehearsals will be held at the Foothills United Methodist Church, 17 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY. All are welcome to come and sing with us! Snow Announcement—If more than 6 inches of snow is forecast, evening church activities are cancelled. Updates will be posted on our website by 3 pm. Re-Commit and Re-Kindle: Register for the Art of Marriage being held at Fulmont Community Church, 144 Harrison St., Johnstown on Friday, March 21, (7-9:30 pm) and Saturday, March 22, (9 am – 4 pm). Married couples and couples contemplating marriage are welcome. $40 per couple. Light refreshments served, but Saturday lunch is not included. Your marriage is worth the investment. See Mother Laurie to register. Spring Fling - Save the Date! Spring Fling will be April 26th! Tickets will go on sale on March 23rd, before and after the 10am worship service. Also, tickets are available through the church office. What: A fun night of dining followed by dancing to The Sophistacats Where: St. Patrick’s Masonic Lodge, Johnstown, New York When: Appetizers at 6 pm; Buffet catered by Union Hall Inn at 6:30 pm Hope College Wind Ensemble from Holland, Michigan, will be visiting the area this weekend and will offer a free concert at the Johnstown High School at 7 pm. Join Mother Laurie at the concert and help her greet the two young people who will stay overnight with her after the concert. Ministries and Church Information Our Weekly Bible Studies: Bible studies meet at 10:30 am on Wednesday, and at 7 pm on Thursday evenings. Note: Bible study will meet at 21 North Market, the former Y building. Come in the front door. New Member Classes continue today: Class will meet after Coffee Hour. Teen Bible Study will next be held March 23, at 6:30pm at the Rectory. Dessert will be provided. First Communion Prayers: Please pray for these young people who are beginning preparation for First Communion, which will be celebrated on May 4 th at 10 am. Pray also for their families, and for the challenges that they face as they choose to raise their children in a faith tradition. Communion class will be next held on March 22, 2014. Market Street. All the women of St. John’s are welcome to attend. The Outreach Committee is collecting the following items for the Senior Center as a Lenten project: crayons, markers, pencils, legal pads either 5x7 or 8x11, coloring books, hand wipes and sanitizer, pre-packaged snacks, i.e. peanut butter crackers, Cheese and crackers, ( diabetic type snacks), other crafts and activities. Please place your donations in the labeled box in the church. Thank you.
